About Cal Gold

Cal Gold is an independent songwriter, guitarist, and vocalist. His multigenre debut album "MIXED MESSAGES" released in 2019 by CEEGEE Music is a showcase for both his songwriting and musical talent. This album was recorded in a multitrack home digital studio wherein the vocals and instruments ,with the exception of some basic programmed rhythm tracks, were live played solo instrument overdubs by the artist. His song lyrics are novel and compelling, and his music exhibits a noticeable jazz influence in its harmonic composition. Much of his guitar work is fingerstyle reminiscent of brazilian jazz technique with a running bass line, and rhythmic chord voicing.  He is equally at home on electric, steel string acoustic, and classical nylon string guitars in addition to some keyboard synthesizers. He  is currently working on a second album of originals intended to be independently released in 2020.

Cal is originally from NYC, but has lived in New Hampshire and Vermont most of his life. His musical experience includes playing the coffee house circuit both solo and as guitar backup for vocalists in NYC when artists llke Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, and Richie Havens were just getting started. He worked as a guitarist in several local bands in New Hampshire, and designed  custom electronic pro audio gear.  While employed by New England Digital Corp., he was the inventor of the  guitar interface to the New England Digital Corp. Synclavier synthesizer system used by Pat Metheny, John McGloughlin, and others. He also designed the electronics for the first professional quality digital audio recording/playback "sampling" system , New England Digital's Sample-To-Disk system, a precursor to todays DAWs.
